My Review:
I fell in love with Taylor's writing when I read the first book in her Curse Books. When I opened this book I wasn't positive what would be waiting on the other side for me, but I was certain it would be a reading adventure. Taylor didn't disappoint.
I love/hate the characters. Is that possible? I don't know. But I do! I hate how naive Natalie is and I hate how self-destructive Sam is. But I love them. I love that Nat will go and look for the good in everyone- the true result of not having her own independence before, I think. I love Sam when he's not being a total duche. I wish that he could be saved, ya know? He is so damn hard on himself.
This isn't one of those easy to stomach stories if you're sensitive to vocabulary or adult substances being tossed around with ease. Personally, I can read it all but I have no real life association to it, ya know? I've been a straight-edge my entire life so for me drug scenes and substance abuse is just stupid- what do they really think will happen if they stick the highly addictive thing into their body? I mean, really?! Okay, okay, I'm coming off my soapbox. Ignoring the fact that I obviously have a little bias when it comes to being stupid enough to use drugs in the first place, I think Taylor handles the storyline very well. I like how she uses Nat's obvious real-life nativity to Sam's "benefit" (not sure what I should call it), but Nat learns... she isn't just stuck in the land of make-believe where shit isn't hitting the fan. Nope, she comes back from it with knowledge.
This is a real story. That doesn't mean that all stories aren't real, but Taylor bases this one in a real world, with real problems... namely drugs and the world that falls apart around them. She doesn't force the world into a shades of pink. There is no perfect solution for the bad crap that goes down, but there is some good.
If you enjoy gritty stories and don't mind some swearing or drug abuse, dive in. Taylor is a great author and I'm always glad to read what she's putting out!

I am a twenty-three year old student; my birthday is May 27th. I'm studying Early Childhood Education. I am an author, a reader and avid blogger. I enjoy everything that has to do with literature. (DUH) I'm from a small town in Connecticut, called Ridgefield. I graduated from Ridgefield High School in 2009 and then went to Eastern CT State University.
I danced in the Ridgefield Studio of Performing Arts dance company until I graduated. I actually danced half time for a Knicks Game and performed in Disney World during my time there. I also played on the Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Team for my high school. Defense all the way!
I love being outside. Hiking, swimming, sports, sunbathing- you name it, I'm there. Beau, my beautiful lil' flat coated retriever is my bestie. My fiance's name is Christopher and we've been together over four years.
I came into writing on an idea and it's now my passion. I am the author of The Curse Books (YA Fantasy Series) and A Reliant Love (NA Standalone). I also operate a review blog, write for Swirlpost and am working on a few different writing ventures right now so stay tuned!
