Let's get started by looking at the book.
In the beginning Heaven was perfect. All of the angels lived in complete harmony and bliss. Gabriel flew through existence on the many simple pleasures Heaven had to offer, Michael led the worker angels proudly, and Lucifer was the highest of the cherubim as well as the minister of music right under God. With one question everything changed. When God’s highest angel placed reason over faith to corrupt Heaven, a secret movement separated loved ones into two sides. After Lucifer discovered the power of the seven deadly sins and used them to empower angels, the two sides violently collided in the first war of all time, The War of Wings.
War of Wings, the new fiction novel, tells the story of the fall of one-third of the angels from Heaven and everything that led up to it through two love stories destined to collide. With Lucifer, the highest cherub angel beginning a revolution in Paradise, author Tanner McElroy presents a unique tale of the trials, tribulations, and journey of four angels of various ranks in the hierarchy of Heaven.
Gabriel and Michael formed the resistance for God but Arrayah, the mesmerizing virtue angel of humility, came into the picture with a secret that may unhinge everything. Can the love of one save the others or will holding on too long cause the demise of many?
Let me start by saying I'm not a big religious story (fiction or non-fiction) reader. I try to avoid things that deal with religion like the plague. I've read books like Mark Twain's Letters from the Earth that make you think.
When I read the blurb for this book, it sounded interesting. I decided to read it despite it having a religious basis. I found the characters to be realistic. I enjoyed how Gabriel was made out to be, as well as Lucifer. I thought that the way they were done was something that you could relate to. For me, characters are the most important part of a story. Tanner does a great job at breathing life into these characters.
The setting is visually built into the story, you don't have to ever thought of the places he talks about, he does a great job at crafting them for you. It's like you're there.
This is a good book for those that enjoy religious fiction or fiction with religious elements to them- not saying the book is a bible thumper book. It has great characters, an interesting plot and a good setting. It's definitely worth checking out. And the cover is very dramatic, how could you possibly resist such a dramatically striking cover?
In War of Wings, Tanner McElroy draws on his legacy of Christianity from his mother and a love of epic stories from his father. His novel is the culmination of a writing adventure that began early, bloomed as he played minor league baseball for the Texas Rangers, and flourished when he moved to California to study acting and writing. His passion for writing led him to create short stories, treatments, and screenplays in addition to War of Wings, his first novel. Tanner excelled as a student and athlete. He attended Texas Tech University on an academic scholarship and graduated with a double major. In 2005, he was named Male Student-Athlete of the Year and selected in the draft by the Texas Ranger. He is now a member of The Texas Writer's League and Romance Writers of America.
