Let me start my review by apologizing to the author. My computer had some serious technical issues and ended up being sent in and was wiped as a result. It's taken me a little bit to get caught up and re-discover the books that I was going to review. So, I'm sorry for the delay in the review! Now, on to the actual review!
I'm a big character person. If you've ever read a review from me, then you already know that. If I can't connect to the characters then I won't finish reading a book. In this one, JF has done a great job at crafting unique and many sided characters. They are complex- which is perfect for the genre! They're totally connectable, but also you end up not knowing what's what with them. They evolve and change. A huge plus. We want our characters to grow and change with the story!
The story itself is one that is absolutely perfect for the genre. We have a journey to save a kingdom and a prince that needs to show how awesome he is... what could possible happen? Easy, right? Well, you'll have to read the story to find out! I'm not giving away ANYTHING!
This is the first installment in the five part series. It's a great start to what is sure to be an epic fantasy adventure.

Born and raised in Arizona, I live with my husband, two dogs, and four cats. Writing has been my passion for as long as I can remember. For the moment, I write somewhat dark poetry and fantasy books. The pentalogy I have been working on, “A Realm Hereafter”, has been in the works for about 11 years now. I got the idea when I was in high school and it took me 7 years to finally sit down and get serious about it. The first book, The King’s Son was meant to be a stand alone book, with no continuing story line. Though it ended the way it was meant to, the way that I’d always planned, I felt compelled to continue. Now the story has grown in a way I’d never expected and, I believe, is better for it. I finished the fifth and final book in the series A Realm Hereafter in May 2013 and am currently in the editing stage of a new fantasy book aimed toward adults. When I’ve finished, I have plenty of stories floating around my head just waiting to be written. Happy reading!
