About the Book:
Being a teenager isn't all fun and games for seventeen year old Ryder. After being thrown down the social hierarchy, Ryder Mason has one goal for her senior year- survive.
Within the first month of school, Ryder goes from bullied teen to a cursed half goddess with two boyfriends. As if that wasn't enough, she travels into the Underworld to confront Hades about the curse and her missing mother.
Ryder delves head first into a Godly world as her two knights fight to seek her approval, her best friend's loyalties are tested and people's true intentions are shown in the first Curse Books novel.
The Review:
Let me start by saying that when I started this book I was just going to read one chapter to see what it would be like so I could budget it into my schedule... what happened in reality? I consumed it in one sitting, staying up all night. Do I regret it? Oh, heck no! I want to know what happens next! Luckily, I get to review book 2 as soon as it's out! YEAH!
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I mean, I am a big character person. And Taylor does a fabulous job of crafting characters that are not only realistic (well, when they aren't being immortal and stuff), but also memorable!
Ryder is the kind of character that a lot of people can relate to. She has so much insecurities and there's the mean girl. Ugh, I hate mean girls, but they are a complete part of the high school hierarchy! I love how she keeps a journal to keep track of the weird crap happening to her! Man, I would be her friend! But when I was in high school, our group was the outcasts from all the others! So she'd fit right in.
Oh, let me not forget the boys! I personally liked Ari more than Ollie. I felt like he had more depth, but maybe that was done intentionally. I don't know, I'm not Taylor.
I really want Ryder to figure things out and not be in the dark so much! But I know everything is given to the reader when it's necessary!
The story is great and I highly recommend it for those that enjoy stories that blend mythology with awesome tales!

Taylor Lavati is a twenty two year old student in a small town in Connecticut. She aspires to be a Kindergarten teacher but has always had a soft spot for English. Her small town doesn't have much to offer so her free time is spent reading, hiking with her dog and boyfriend or watching reality television. Her favorite genre to read changes on a daily basis but her top three consist of contemporary romances, paranormal romances and fantasy novels.
