12/21/12 The Mayan Calendar Ends! Does it mean the end of the World? Probably not but just in case...
Which books would you save if the world was coming to an end?

For me, this sits in the back of my mind as we race toward the 21st. Does it for you too? Am I alone with my vague worry? Maybe it's because I'm a parent of two small kids. My son just turned 5 and my daughter is 15 months today! I want them to live long happy lives, and I'd like to be around for quite a bit longer myself. Don't you?

If this was the end, then let's take all the books with us! LOL. I've got my favorites, but I hope some of you would choose something I wrote as a book to go with you. Anyways, you want to know what I'm doing for the giveaway! Well, I'm not going to tell you, so there! It's a surprise! The more people that enter, the better the prize! How about them apples? And if we're still here after the 21st, then woot someone will win it. If not, well, at least you had a mystery before the end came, right?

I think it will but not in the way everyone`s thinking - something will probably end but more on the spiritual/mental level not physically.

I'm not too worried about the world coming to an end on 12/21/12, but just in case, my kindle is fully charged and loaded with books. That should be enough to see me through the apocalypse. :)

No. I don't think the world will end on 12/21/12. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a stock market crash or something like that, however. The economy is a nightmare.

No, I don't think the world will end on December the 21th. I don't believe in any prophecy, especially when its interpretation is so arbitrary.

An unpleasant thought but I really don't think the world is going to end on 12/21/12. If it really is coming to an end I would save as many books as I could get my hands!

Yes, at approximately 2PM west coast time. I have plenty of rations, blankets, and firewood. It's good to be prepared.
Oh, and I also have an extensive library to keep myself entertained.
But personally, I will be sad because that will mean that no one gets to win in this blog hop. sniffle.

I don't think the world will end on the 21st. I read somewhere that the mayan calendar didn't add the leap years, so technically the world would have been long gone by now

I do not believe the world will end on the 21st. The bible does say that no man knows the day or the hour. My sn said the same thing as you - no he does not want it to end because of my two grandchildren. They are only two and have a lifetime ahead of them. Have a great Christmas....keep on writing. I don't think the world will end,maybe change some,I believe Maya calendar was pretty much like ours it cycled through though for a longer time period than our year.Much of the Maya calendar & other written work was destroyed by priests who considered it evil so we really do not have full picture of what they intended to impart if anything since much is missing from the picture. I would take the book A Bella Notte christmas story, the bible,childhood favorites,philosophers,and practical books on how to do things like build,grow food,foods safe to eat in the wild etc.

The world isnt ending the Mayan calendar is circluar; therefore the circle is starting over (think of a clock striking midnight) its awesome bc instead of 24 hours like a clock its a 50 year long calendar. :) So ya, no end of the world...................as an anthropology major this is getting really annoying.

There is no more evidence that the world will end today than there has been for every other apocalyptic prediction. Actually, there's less evidence than there was for other prophecies (none of which had much to begin with), as the "evidence" is simply a misinterpretation.
If the world ends today, it will be a coincidence.
