Robot Turtles is a board game for kids inspired by the Logo programming language. It provides crucial brain development and computer programming skills to children as young as 4 years old in the context of family fun. Players dictate the movements of their Robot Turtle tokens on a game board by playing Code Cards: Forward, Left and Right. When a player's Robot Turtle reaches a jewel they win! If they make a mistake, they can use a Bug Card to undo a move. The game has many levels so, as the players advance, they will encounter obstacles like Ice Walls and use more complex Code Cards (like lasers to melt the walls). Play continues until all players collect a jewel, so everyone wins. Beginner to Advanced levels will make it a family favorite for many years. It includes a large Game Board, 40 Tiles, 4 Robot Turtle Tiles, 4 Jewel Tiles, 4 Code Card Decks (45 cards in each deck) and instructions. 2-5 players can play at once and everyone who gets the Robot Jewel wins.
This is a freaking awesome game! Both my six and two year old LOVE IT. I don't know how many times I've been asked to play it since it got here.
One of the thing that I love the most about it is that it's progressive. You start out with just the turtles. This is great when you're playing with smaller guys as they figure out what the heck you're doing. The sound effects that you're REQUIRED to make as Turtle Mover is fun! It wasn't too slow that my son got frustrated (he's six), but he understands that sometimes it takes a little longer for his little sister to understand what to do in a game.
The games changes with each layout (you can even design your own) and that helps to keep bigger kids coming back. I love how it requires you not only to figure out directions, but also logic through situations like ice blocks and other obstacles and path blockers!
I highly recommend this for any group with little kids. It doesn't matter if they are just little guys like my two year old or bigger kids like my six, they totally enjoy it. AWESOME GAME!
